replacing fields with values from other db

I have a web2py DAL where I store and present some properties of my servers. The DAL is manually updated. To make it better I created a simple MySQL db on the same server where I feed data from the servers I monitor. I'm fairly new to the database concept and I'm now stuck at a point where I would need to replace the fields in the DAL with fields from my MySQL db based on Hostname field. What's the easiest way of doing that?
