Hi,

Maybe this question has already been asked before, forgive me in case this is old news.

I was wondering why MySQL had the reputation (and maybe still now) of being a "web database"? The reason I ask is this : Is MySQL suitable for a client/server configuration? I mean, local network, database server and ERP software. Nothing to do with web. As far as I remember, and that's already years ago : MySQL never made it to be certified by SAP.

What was the true meaning behind the story of MySQL as being a web database? Was it to be used by a webservice instead of client/server, with permanent connections?

Thanks !
