Sorry, I updated Kubuntu 14.04 LTS to 16.04 LTS (both Long Term Support).

You mean this is no MySQL Problem but an Akonadi/Kubuntu one? So it's useless for me to work through the linked doc (I'm afraid it demands too much of me)?

Is there no chance to repair the MySQL-part? Data loss would not be a problem, because I have backups.
