Enabling binary logging

I am sorry if this is incredibly simple but I just can't figure it out. I am using Workbench 6.3 and Mysql 5.7. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to set up binary logging whatsoever. I tried the Mysqld command but all I get are errors telling me that TIMESTAMP with implicit DEFAULT value is deprecated. Please use --explicit_defaults_for_timestamp server option (see documentation for more details). I went tot he documentation but it seemed like more of the same to me. So I just want to know how to enable binary logging.

Appreciate the help,

K
