I had to play around with it a little and finally got your suggestion to work with one more line:

<Directory /var/www/>
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks MultiViews
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>

I am going to have to think a little further about how to keep those pesky Chinese and Russians out, lol.

I will have to see how it goes when they change the subnet from 192.168.1. to 192.168.6 ...hopefully it will be smooth sailing. Thanks for all your help thus far.
