What's wrong with my query? Filter by date and email address

Hi all,
Please help. I'm looking for tickets that were received from a particular email address, submitted between a date range.

SELECT
email,
ticket_number,
ds
FROM
table
WHERE
email = '[e-mail]'
AND ds BETWEEN '2016-01-01'
AND '2016-11-01'
ORDER BY
ds ASC;

Shows no results even though it should. What am I missing here, did wrong here? please help, if not the right place, please redirect me. thanks. #NOOBS
