I wouldn't bother.
If the password is configurable within the application then [stop the application] change the password at the application end, change the password to match at the database end and restart everything.
If the password isn't configurable within the application because it has the credentials "hard-coded" into it then find the Developer who did so and give them a good slapping! :-)
