Unsupported parameter ';protocol when attempting to start the server.

;protocol is a syntax error. The comment char for mysql config files is #, not ;. Look for ";protocol" in my.ini and correct it.

No problem, eg there are six different MySQL versions on the network I'm using just now. Each machine on a network can have one MySQL instance using 3306.

Should what be bound? Are you referring to bind-address? Set it only if you wish to restrict logins to one "bound" IP address.
