Yes, I had previously seem that. Thanks for chasing it down.

A couple of observations about Nanad's solution; (1). My installation was not hanging. It was crashing immediately on the starting service step. (No chance to go and change the service). (2). I'm selecting "Sever only" (probably irrelevant). (3). Step 12 doesn't apply to my situation. The account was correct. (4). I don't get any pop up dialogs about the service timing out.

Perhaps that has been addressed? He was using a very old version.

So, where I'm at right now;

I have managed to get the installation and initial configuration to complete from start to finish - successfully,repeatedly - as long as there is no trace of the excel viewer.

The Mysqld service is running and configured as listed in the linked post.

I cannot connect to Mysqld because of the access denied error.
