Accessing an Indxed Table

Hi,

I have a customer table with 2 columns making up the index ... Number and Date.

How do I randomly access the table . e.g. I provide the Number and Date .. I just want to read the relevant row.
Do I have to perform a select statement ?? or is there another command ?
