I don't understand your answer. A JOIN would assume that I would join the answers of the two queries on some common field. What I want to do is making two queries on the same table (and thus producing the same set of fields) and then merging those two results into one. So if the first part returns 5 rows and the second part returns 11 rows I want 16 rows returned: the first 5 from the first query part and the others from the second.
