converting from phpMyAdmin to workbench

Hi, I am trying to convert from phpMyAdmin that was on a web hosting to Workbench on my computer because I feel the data is safer and more reliable this way.

It's my aspiration to be able to send the data I choose to webservers or APIs such as a retail store API.

I am starting to read the documentation. When I imported the data I did it in two ways firstly I exported it as SQL file in PhpMyAdmin, I then executed the sql file in Mysql which created something and then there is a model file, I generated the model with the SQL file via the reverse engineer option.

I am still just getting started and I am not at the point where I feel comfortable with the software to just entering data which is a bit unfortunate.. I am using version 8.0.20 for Workbench and 8.0 for Mysql.

I just don't see the data the way I want to see it yet or make sense of it.
