You didn't read the upgrade links?
First, you can't get to 8 directly from 5.5. You have to go through 5.6 to 5.7 to 8. You might get away with an in-place upgrade from 5.5 to 5.6, but 5.7 and 8 are going to want new installations into which you dump then upgrade your data.
