It is VERY much in your best interest to upgrade to MySQL 8.0. 8.0 has been in GA status for over 4 years, and already seen plenty of real-life usage; there is really no reason at this point not to use it in production.
MySQL 5.0, as Peter has already pointed out, has not seen a new release in nearly 12 years. You really don't want to use something that's not seen any security updates in that span of time.
