I do not think that either your fellow Employees or your company as a whole would appreciate such a "cavalier" attitude to their Data.
Just because you're "only" on an internal network does not mean that you can just "forget" about Data Security.

"skip grants" is there for emergencies only.
It's so that you can get in and clean up the mess that somebody (or something) else made.

You must not be running any Application using this option.
If you are, it means that your database is security is non-existent and needs to be corrected. Urgently.

Short answer - No.
MySQL has [quite rightly] decided that this is a highly dangerous practice and has "slammed the door" on it.

[Get the Developers to] Fix the Application so that it works with database security instead of trying to ignore it.
