Please post a few examples of the charset corruption you're seeing.
What is the result of running this query: show variables like '%character%';
The accented characters are replaced by '?', or what?
Do you see the same charset issues when querying the tables?
Is the issue specific to particular tables? If so, what are the charset and collation settings for those tables?
