I did a stupid thing

I did a very, very stupid thing. I uninstalled MySQl en re-installed a newer version without backing up my database. After the new version was installed, I could see the connection to my old database, but no tables in in. I cannot find the data base on my system. All that looks like a possibility is mysql.idb which I found in "C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 8.0\Data\mysql.ibd". I have read that a database can be restored from an .idb file, but I am too petrified to try anything as a noob.

Can someone please offer me help. I would be grateful if I could just retrieve the table structures without the data as there are many tables.

Regards

PS. I can still see the datasource, but not the actual database in my VB.net application using Visual studio Community 2019.
