Memory growth with 8.0.30

Hi, folks,

We've been seeing slow but steady memory growth with 8.0.30 on RHEL 7.9.

We had 12GB of memory on the server, with 3 pool instances, a pool chunk size of 128M and a buffer_pool_size of 3GB. Memory was slowly creeping up in to the low ninety percents. A mysql restart would drop the usage 3-5%, but the creep upward continued.

Once memory got into the mid-ninety percents, the restarts stopped being effective, and eventually we hit 98% usage.

I fixed it with a hammer last night by hot plugging an additional 4GB of memory, and now it +seems+ stable, but I'm unhappy not having a root cause.

My first thought is a memory leak in 8.0.30, but I've seen no talk about that, and I don't yet have a second thought.

Any advice?

Thanks,

John A
