Innodb warm up

I confuse whether inforamation_schema has index cardinality for tables in real time.
I read the manual MySQL 5.5 about "warm up".

I think that information_schema has index cardinality for each table after startup. so I think there is no need for "warm up script - select 1 from tables limit 1".

doesn't optimizer check information_schema.tables to get index cardinality in real time?
in the case of Innodb, what does innodb handler check to get index cardinality in real time?
