Even if I consider that writing a fulltext parser plugin is the way to go, I need to upgrade my 4x to 5x. I can't use that for mysql 4x, right? Then, I'm using php 4x for the moment, and not yet ready to move to php 5x immediately.

Problem, as I have posted elsewhere as well, that the <ctype><map> is nothing but a bunch of numbers, and its impossible for a normal user to understand how to change that to add desired characters as word characters, like - and &. Specially, since we don't have any material anywhere explaining how to do that, atleast I could not find that after searching for 3 days in the net.

<ctype>
<map>
00
20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 28 28 28 28 28 20 20
20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20 20
48 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
84 84 84 84 84 84 84 84 84 84 10 10 10 10 10 10
10 81 81 81 81 81 81 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01
01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 10 10 10 10 10
10 82 82 82 82 82 82 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02
02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 10 10 10 10 20
10 00 10 02 10 10 10 10 10 10 01 10 01 00 01 00
00 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 02 10 02 00 02 01
48 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10
01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 01
01 01 01 01 01 01 01 10 01 01 01 01 01 01 01 02
02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02
02 02 02 02 02 02 02 10 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 02
</map>
</ctype>

I would appreciate if someone help me to understand the above, or atleast to guide me to show how can one incorporate additional characters to the above jungle of numbers.
