Re: Support for multiple languages in a single MySQL DB
I would like to ask the more generic form of this question: if one is developing a web application to support all languages possible (assuming translations of the site are selectable by user), what collation should be used to support the widest selection of languages? What character sets would NOT be supported by that collation? Can one collation support the latin languages together with Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese (Kanji), Russian etc? If so, how do you do that?
Does anyone know of a definitive online reference for all the collations and character sets supported by MySQL (my google skills are clearly lacking).
