Dear Jasper,
It works after i made the following changes. maybe you miss out the COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci
ALTER TABLE table_a MODIFY COLUMN `Cols_1` VARCHAR(255) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_unicode_ci;
