Hi peter, thanks for the reply, that was helpful.
I guess i have a few more questiosn related to the earlier questions itself

1. If the user has data in more than one language and when i try to sort this data, how does it get sorted? Does normal searches work?
So, if i have multi lingual data, for example some records in chinese and some records in japanese, will setting collation to utf_general_ci, sort them correctly depending on the language?

2. Is there a sorting collation for Devnagari scripts? for example Hindi.
i have checked, i do not see any collation provided for devnagari scripts or indian languages. Is there one?

5. If i have data, is there a way know what collation or lanaguage it is?

i meant to say, if i have a table with multi-lingual data, one record is english, the other is chinese, the other is japanese; is there a way for me to know what language the data is?

Thanks once again for your reply
