4) The main advantages of 5.4 over 5.1 concern scaling & performance. The main advantages of 5.x over 4.1 are stored routines, information_schema, triggers, views, xa transactions & partitions.
5) Sun/MySQL says we can expect 6.0 to re-appear in early 2010, presumably with features implemented in 6.0.11 plus features in the 6.0 roadmap.
