Re: hebrew in mysql

Hi,

I have the same problem. My database is configured to default to UTF-8 (following is a 'show create database' output) version 4.1.7 on a RedHat Linux 8.0.

I've tried inserting a new row containing hebrew using a JDBC tester, and then retrieving it using JDBC and check if the result is the same, but nope (I can see other unicode hebrew characters on that console - exact same character data I use to insert into the db).

It also fails from the Query Browser (I'm running the query browser on a winXP machine with default Hebrew locale and region). While I edit the data (before the insert) I can type the hebrew characters, once I insert them into the database and re-fetch them, they turn to question marks ("?").

Has anyone run into this sort of problem?

cheers
