Changing Character Set for a particular Database

Hi All,

Please can anyone give me an example of how to change the character set for a particular database. Or for a particular column in a Table. Can I use Unicode as My default Character Set? Will I face any problems?
I have MySQL version 3.23 and Using Tomcat version 4.1.


ANy help will be Appreciated.
