Re: utf8 in database but order does not sort correct
according to german DIN 5007 the sort order for ä=a is correct if you do a "word"-sort, eg in encyclopaedia or thesaurus. if you want to do a "name"-sort, eg phone book or directory, then german2 with ä=ae would be correct (or better).
in our case we do word-sort, so we don't need any further investigation to the problem. the order is correct!
just out of interest: is it possible to have german2 ordering with utf8? can a "collation" be redefined? i have downloaded the sources and only the latin1* files are available. no special collation file?
anybody out there who had solved this problem?
