MySQL Mirgation Toolkit

Trying to get the Migration Toolkit to work but I can't even find any documentation on how to use it or set it up. When I start it up it says there was an error while initializing java but I have version 1.4.2 installed just like it says. I get to the part where it tries getting the schema information from MySQL and it fails. What do I have to do to get this working?
