Need help on Linking server on Mysql

Hi

I am new to Mysql, My current application is using MYSQL 3.23 database and for which i have PHP as frontend.

Now we have new enhancement to my application that is going to be in DOTNET 3.5 framework but still we want to use MYSQL server as a backend. But currently we want to MYSQL in 5.5 as backend because to utilize all the new features in MYSQL.

Now we have an issue here only.

we have all our PHP based application's data/Database in version 3.23 . But while i am working with Dotnet and MYsql server 5.5, I need to access some of the table's data of MYSQL 3.23 in my new created database of MYSQL 5.5 using Store procedure.

Hence could u please help out in giving the suggestion for running backend jobs or by creation linked server between these two version with different database.
