You have to install a JDBC driver for the source database first.
Copy the driver's .jar file into [installation directory]\java\lib
Then, on the source connection page select Generic Jdbc as Database System. Enter the classname and the connection string. Please refere to the documentation of your JDBC driver because these parameters variy from driver to driver.
To adjust the datatype mapping please take a look at the file [installation directory]\xml\GenericDatatypeMapping.xml and add mappings as needed.
