FEDERATED engine not supported

Hi, my problem is that once activated the FEDERATED engine, run the commands "SHOW ENGINES" and the FEDERATED engine as unsupported too.

I am using a version of MySQL 5.5. In ubuntu 12.04.

I activate the FEDERATED engine like that:


in my my.cfg
under [mysqld]
write "FEDERATED"

Restart the service and nothing.

the command "SHOW ENGINES" continues to show:
FEDERATED engine as unsupported.
