Thanks for the response. The table has over 30 million records and looks something like this:
CREATE TABLE `selling_trigger_story_hit` (
`id` char(32) NOT NULL,
`selling_trigger_hit_id` varchar(32) NOT NULL,
`title` varchar(255) NOT NULL,
`creationDate` datetime NOT NULL,
PRIMARY KEY (`id`),
KEY `FK55A5285347F44E7D` (`selling_trigger_hit_id`),
) ENGINE=InnoDB DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8
The selling_Trigger_hit_id is a foreign key to another table that will actually have the entity type/id. I want to partition it either by entity id or date. But the issue is the entity id is present in another table selling_trigger_hit.
