ASFAIK packing is not supported on partitioned tables. I opened a feature request for this and was told it was a) not easy and b) not likely to be implemented.

I looked at archive tables but just can't get the performance I require. Also looked at InfoBright but, in the free version at least, there is no easy way to age data out - which is the beauty of partitions (alter table drop partition).
