we can increase innodb_buffer_pool_size to 5GB.
If i understand you correctly, MySQL is smart enough to cache only the most frequently used regions of the index. not whole index, correct?
If that's the casse, then we don't really need the partitions. Archival of old data can be slow and can utilize index on date that we have for backoffice app.
