The EXPLAIN PARTITIONS is saying two things:
1. _only_ p2 will be used.
2. _approximately_ 100000 rows will need to be scanned.
#1 can be trusted; #2 is often rather inaccurate.

If you do this before and after the SELECT, I think you will find a _difference_ of 30000 (or maybe 30001) for one of the values:
SHOW SESSION STATUS;
(probably in the Handler% and/or Innodb% values)

If you don't find that, then show us what you got, and we will dig further.
