You can split your table on two ones and join them with a view by a primary key, I heard that people use two tables in INNODB, for example, for separating BLOBS which is not frequently accessed. As far as view is really simple it will cost just as usual join operation for select. the only problem is insert/update where you will not be able to insert and update rows of both tables simultaniously via the view and you can't delete from such view.
