problems with searches for 'c#' and 'c++' fulltext

I am posting this here since there seems to be little i.e. no response in the fulltext forum.

original thread can be found http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?107,68158,68158#msg-68158

When doing searches for C# or C++ I get no results on a fulltext index. I suspect it is because mysql treats the # and + as special characters and have therefor not added them to the index. Is there a way to get around this ?
No results are returned for C#, C++ etc. I suspect any search with a non-alpha character ?

I have my word length set to two (ft_min_word_len=2) and have repaired the table several times. I really need help on how to solve this...if anyone knows please reply.
