can't find partial words

I have found that my queries won't return any results if searching for a partial words

example: the fname field contains full name "Larry Wright"
no results are returned if searched for "Larr" or "Wrigh"
right now it's returning resuls when searched for a full word "Larry" or "Wright" or "Larry Wright"
this used to work before, what could happend ? I need to find the record by any part of the name

SELECT fname
FROM notices
WHERE MATCH (fname) AGAINST ('ALBRECHT')
ORDER BY fname
