Neither will be efficient. And they are different.
Add some parentheses. a OR b OR c AND d is the same as a OR b OR (c AND d), which does not feel like what you want.
UNION is more like OR than AND.
ALTER TABLE table1
ADD FULLTEXT(Program, Title, Producers, Key_Words, Description);
Then
... WHERE MATCH(Program, Title, Producers, Key_Words, Description)
AGAINST ('boxes')
without the ORs.
