Edit button disabled in Query Browser

I just installed MySql 4.1 and Query Browser 1.1.6. Things seem to be going fine except that the "edit" button of the query browser is always disabled. I ruled out permission problems because I can change the value by entering the appropriate UPDATE command in the query window, just not directly in the result set field. But perhaps the permission thing is more subtle.

My colleage across the hall has no trouble at all with this. Her MySql server is 3.x and Query Browser is 1.1.5. My search of the group is turned up a few others who experience this. But there doesn't seem to a well-understood reason. In my case, it was a fresh installation with one DB, one table, single user with all privleges.
