QueryBrowser - Win98 - XML Error at startup

I am running win98. I have installed mysql-query-browser-1.1.9-win-noinstall.zip by unzipping it c:.
This installation functioned correctly for several days.
When I try to execute the query browser now I get a message box with a title of "XML Error" and an OK button - no text. This appears twice, then the browser starts.
When I execute a select statement against a database, the results are briefly displayed then they dissapear....
I have deleted the entire directory that the files are installed to, and reran the installation process - same result. Is the windows registry involved?
Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? How can I correct it?
