Editing result sets created by "joins"

Hi all;

Is there someway to edit columns in a result set created by joining 2 or more tables?

Ideally, MySQL QB/driver would maintain a path from each "cell" in the resultset back to the table,row,column from where the cell value originated.

Any insight as to how to accomplish this would be helpful.

thanks
