"rpm -qa | grep -i mysql" shows mysql-5.0.22-2.1 - Whats missing ?

Guys,

Got a question relating to mysql installation.

I am not sure if the linux box i have has got everything relating to MySQL DB...doing "rpm -qa | grep -i mysql" shows just this rpm "mysql-5.0.22-2.1", so i am wondering as if thats all required for the MySql DBMS (for the client i plan to use SQLYog), also doing a "ps ax | grep "mysql" shows a mysql process so i believe its running.

But i dont see any mysqld.pid anywhere in the system, typing mysql gives me this error

ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

NOW I cant even find this mysql.sock file anywhere in the system, which i thought i will have it changed in my.cnf file accordingly.

Can someone please help here..

Thanks in advance
