InnoDB problem

When installing MySQL 5.0.41 and 5.0.51b in Win XP, I always get the same problem..
The MySQL service can't start automatically and the logs say:

080629 18:50:46 InnoDB: Error: unable to create temporary file; errno: 22
080629 18:50:46 [ERROR] Default storage engine (InnoDB) is not available
080629 18:50:46 [ERROR] Aborting

After searching in the forums I've seen the same problem and solutions like trim the spaces in the path, uninstall and clean the registry, use a different name for the service name (possible to prevent earlier installations), etc..
I tryed all with no result.

Another message in a forum said that in some releases InnoDB may not be included..
I don't know if this is true, but the only way I could finish the install was to disable InnoDB and only use MyISAM..

How can I solve this?
Is there any "safe" release without problems in installation?

Before uninstall and re-install, this was the first instalation in this machine, so I think that there weren't any "old" services causing the problem. I also cleanned the regisry. There isn't also any logs or database files to delete or rename as suggested in some posts.

Thanks in advance.
