Does MySQL 3.23.47 have a memory leak?

I'm running MySQL 3.23.47 on my server, and I've noticed something strange while watching the server using "top". It's a Linux server by the way.

When I first started the server about 3 days ago, the MySQL process used 8.0% of the server's memory. It has slowly crept up over the past days and now uses 21.6% of the available memory. It's not hurting the server yet, but I'm worried that within a week, I could have problems.

Has anybody else experienced this problem with this or other versions? Does it require an upgrade in order to solve?

Thanks
