Installed latest mysql version on Mac, didn't know I Mac already had mysql on it, problems now!

Hi,
I am new the the Mac world (new iMac 24" 2.8ghz), and I installed the latest version of mysql on it..not knowing it already has mysql on it.

I think I was suppose to do something with the old version, not stop it form running or something.

When I view /usr/local/ I see this:

mysql mysql-5.0.51b-osx10.4-i686


I can't see the older version?
I can't seem to get into mysql either!
