First of all, unless you use Win95/98/Me, please don't use WinMySQLAdmin.

Uninstalling MySQL (old installer) will require you to run
C:\mysql\bin\mysqld --remove

If you download MySQL 4.1.5 (or later, when released) with the new Windows installer, everything should be and stay cool. Naturally, you will first need to sort out your previous setup as described above.
