Eventum 1.3.1 Post installation http 500 internal error

After receiving the successful installation message I click on the provided link and get the 500 internal server error. I have php 4.1.2-7 on redhat 7.3. The tables and DB are created fine. I touched the 2 files needed for installation : setup.conf.php and error_handler.log chmod both to 777 and even tried to change ownership to 1003:513 like all the other files. Is it possible that even though I get the message that the installation went fine something is wrong with the setup.conf.php file? After installation I check the file size which is 0... seems odd. Is it possible someone could send me their setup.conf.php file to modify and fit my server? Just a thought, any help would be greatly appreciated.
