If you are using Linux

I just spent a couple of hours on this Error Nr. 1045 in Linux (Ubuntu).
I reinstalled the MySQL server and client along with MySQL Administrator.
In the MySQL Administrator I kept running into the above error when I was using the password which I knew was correct.
The point was that the database was apparently deleted and I was still trying to go into the "old" database. The key is to leave the password empty and then the new database will appear.
I lost all my old data but at least I can start to work again. I don't know where or when I lost the data, but I just upgraded from Ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 and it wasn't a smooth upgrade.

In the hope that this may help somebody else....

Ilan
