MySQL installation in a developing country

I'm researching the expansion of MySQL into developing countries. I'm looking for help and information to about the following:

1. Any type of statistics on the number of downloads or licenses made to developing countries.

2. Any description of how companies, governments, NGOs are using MySQL in developing countries.

3. Any trends that describe the reasons for using MySQL, the obstacles confronted, and techniques used in the implementation and deployment of MySQL.

4. Contact information for anyone actively involved in a project to implement MySQL in a developing country.

I am targeting Linux Journal and O'Reilly Network for publishing the results of my research. So any help offered will be duly mentioned and very much appreciated.
